Speed sounds chart.

Simple speed sounds chart

Here is the speed sounds chart we use in class. We teach a series of sounds, according to the simple speeds sounds chart. We begin with  the phoneme sound of the 26 letters of the alphabet, then sounds made up of two letters, such as ‘th’ which makes one pure sound. Children then learn the long vowel sounds, ay, ee, igh, ow, oo etc.

Once secure on the above, children are introduced to the complex speed sounds chart, to learn alternative ways to spell the same sound. For instance, ‘ay’ as in play and ‘ai’ as in rain, which are shown within the same sound box.

Here is the sound order we teach the sounds, and examples of words to help you get the pronunciation correct.
